Karthikeya’s journey to hearing with Cochlear Implants

Dr. Shree Rao's cochlear implant surgery gave our son, Karthikeya, a second chance at hearing. We'll forever be grateful for this life-changing gift.

Karthikeya’s entry into the world was marked by challenges as he contracted jaundice during birth, leading to a diagnosis of congenital hearing loss in both ears. His parents held onto hope, believing that his hearing would naturally improve in due time, but reality had other plans. When they consulted Dr. Shree Rao, a distinguished EarSurgeon, hope was reignited as cochlear implant surgery was recommended as the way forward.

Following the surgery, Dr. Shree Rao’s guidance on speech training proved instrumental in Karthikeya’s progress. He made significant strides and, in a heartwarming moment, called his mother “amma.” The constant support from the team of nurses further fueled his progress.

Being part of Karthikeya's journey and witnessing the transformation he underwent after the surgery has been the most rewarding experience in my career as an ENT specialist.

Having explored various options, the family chose cochlear implants as the best way to ensure a life of normalcy for Karthikeya. Driven by the desire for the best for their son, they opted for the world’s thinnest, advanced off-the-ear processor Cochlear™ Nucleus® CI632 cochlear implant, ensuring optimum hearing capabilities.

Today, as Karthikeya flourishes in a world of sound, his journey serves as a testament to the transformative power of cochlear implant surgery. Dr. Shree Rao, as an ENT surgeon, takes immense pride and experiences deep emotions as she witnesses the life-changing impact of this surgery.

In 2023, Karthikeya stands as a symbol of triumph over hearing challenges, a vibrant testament to the possibilities that lie within each individual. His life has been profoundly transformed, thanks to the expertise and care provided by Dr. Shree Rao and her team.
